Mao Zedong was a Communist who planned to divide China using the Japanese attacks. He didn't really didnt do much except sit back and build up his army. His Red army numbered no less than 272,000 men, each a professional and efficent killing machine, with the top grade of weapons. When Chaing Kai Chek decided to run from the Japanese in Nanking, and attack the red army instead, many of his people were raped and slaughtered.
